A Belgian born attacking midfielder, versatile enough to play as a winger, is attracting attention from many European giants. Also he is a fantastic dribbler with terrific ball control, who won the French Ligue 1 player of the year award, helped his club Lille to win the domestic league title after 50 years. These are just a few of the things used to describe Lille hotshot winger/attacking midfielder Eden Hazard.
Arsenal has been regularly linked with a move that brings Hazard to the Emirates. It was even said that a club record bid was placed in this previous transfer window, however Lille refused to lose another star to the same club after selling Gervinho. Arsene Wenger has not kept his interest in Hazard a secret, and is trying very hard for his signature. The fans are also excited about his imminent move, but do we really need him?
well, in my opinion, we don’t need him at the moment.
Here are some of my reasons:
1. Firstly we have Alex Chamberlain and Ryo Miyaichi who are extremely talented and can be equally explosive as Hazard. Well, do I need to tell you about chamberlain? he was bought for reportedly 12 million pounds in summer and he’s just 18. He made his premier league debut in a 8-2 loss to Manchester United away, he scored a goal in his champions league debut and also scored a fantastic long ranger against Shrewsbury in the Carling Cup. He has devastating speed, good at trickery, excellent dribbling skills.
And then we have a Kapanese kid, who went directly to playing European football from High school football. He played 12 matches in his short loan spell at Feyenoord, and scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists. Isn’t that incredible for a young kid? The Dutch media gave him the nickname “Ryodinho” after comparisons to Ronaldinho were made. He has also been branded the Japanese Messi.
2. With the departures of Fabregas and Samir Nasri, the creativity in Arsenal’s midfield was found missing for a couple of games. Arsenal game requires a play maker to fill in for the missing creativity and since we already bought Arteta – who’s growing in his role day by day – we don’t need to waste money by spending big on Eden Hazard. Arsenal can’t expect their captain to bail them out of a tight situation every time. Somebody should support him from behind and provide those killer passes to Van Persie. And I don’t see Eden Hazard doing this job. He’s a winger, and a attacking midfielder who likes to take on defenders, run through defences and we already have Ryo, Alex, Gervinho, Walcott for that.
3. MLS player Brek Shea is on trial at Arsenal as we speak. Oh yes, the American youngster is currently training with the Arsenal squad. well, he’s simply awesome in my words. He’s called the American “Torres”. Shea is a very deadly attacker. I haven’t seen any American player before who has such good speed and close ball control, and his finishing and long range shooting are too good. Well I just hope he gets a permanent contract and he becomes a gunner. He would cost Arsenal anything in range of 10-15 million pounds.
4. Marco Reus, a German young midfielder/forward is also on the Arsenal radar. This isn’t a rumor anymore. Gladbach manager, Favre has admitted that Arsene inquired about Reus last summer. Reus has an exit clause of 15million pounds and he’s on the wish list of Bayern Munich too. Marco has openly stated that Arsenal is the club he has supported since his childhood. Well, at 20, he’s already a German international, his speed, dribbling and finishing are his key attributes. Spending 15 million pounds on a youngster who has already scored 10 times and provided nine assists in the Bundesliga is a very sweet deal, rather than breaking the bank on a player who will leave us after a season or two for a Spanish club.
