#4 Given his goalscoring prowess, 16 goals over the next few years wouldn't be difficult
All said and done, it must be remembered that this is Cristiano Ronaldo we are talking about - the legendary marksman who scores goals for fun and makes the revered art of putting the ball into the back of the net look like child's play.
Ronaldo took a while to get going on the international stage, not breaking Pauleta's previous Portugal record of 47 until March 2014. But since then he has scored an incredible 46 goals in just five years.
From 2016 till date, Ronaldo has scored 32 goals from just 30 matches for Portugal at a rate of over a goal per game. He is like vintage wine, that gets better with age.
If Ronaldo can maintain this incredible goal-scoring ratio (which there isn't any reason for him not to), he would likely hit 16 goals before the end of next year. Which is why it stands to reason that Ali Daei's record will soon be claimed by Cristiano Ronaldo.
