#2 Have a runner in the midfield
Who actually runs in the Manchester United midfield? Pogba is way too lazy to do the donkey task and also considers himself too much of a star to keep track of opposing players. Matic is the holding player in the midfield, much like what Carrick used to do. Plus he’s too slow to run up and down the field and doesn’t possess the engine to keep up even if he tries. Fellaini is more of a shield when he plays, he guards the back four and pretty much does nothing more even when being played in an advanced position. So who actually covers the ground for Manchester United?
Well, Jose needs to address that and quick. He went into the transfer window and bought Fred but that singing hasn’t paid off yet, so he needs to address that part. Or rather, he already has a player in that mould in Herrera who he can use to great effect. Herrera is strong defensively, can spot a pass, he is capable of scoring and also has the engine to run the ground for 90 minutes. In addition to that, Herrera isn’t afraid or embarrassed about shadowing an opposing player, ask Eden Hazard. The runner will also ease the burden on the defenders and hence the defenders' sole concentration will be on the opposing teams’ main striker(s).
