Chelsea 1-0 Barcelona
Date: Wednesday, 18th October 2006
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Attendance: 42,522
This time Chelsea and Barcelona met in Group stage of the 2006/07 season. Didier Drogba's solitary goal handed Jose Mourinho's Chelsea a well-deserved win.
Chelsea faced a daunting task as they were without their both first choice and second choice goalkeeper. They were forced to start the match with their third choice goalkeeper Henrique Hilario.
The Blues broke the deadlock seconds after the first half with a beautiful strike from Drogba. Barcelona enjoyed plenty of possession but Chelsea defended with grit, determination and concentration and were successful in keeping the Barcelona side from scoring.
