After a promising start to life at Chelsea, Timo Werner has endured a torrid time in front of goal for the Blues. He has missed several big chances that have fallen his way which has seen him become a meme sensation on the internet. However, the forward has consistently managed to keep his place in the side due to the chances he creates.

Werner was a shadow of his former self last season, scoring just six goals, 22 fewer than the number he racked up at RB Leipzig the season before.

However, the German's pace and movement has helped the Blues in creating a lot of chances. Werner has so far registered 16 assists for Chelsea in all competitions and was the only player to reach double digits in terms of goals and assists for the Blues last season.

Lukaku's arrival has limited the chances for forward, although he has been in good form in recent weeks and seems to be slowly getting back to his best.

#2 Marcos Alonso - 18 assists

Marcos Alonso has had his fair share of critics during his time at Chelsea. However, there's no doubt that the Spaniard has made a significant impact since joining the club in 2016.

With Antonio Conte's 3-4-3 formation requiring the presence of attack-minded full-backs, Alonso slotted in perfectly during his debut season at Stamford Bridge. He was a key outlet for Chelsea's attack on the left-hand side and played a big part in Chelsea clinching the Premier League title during the 2016-17 season.

Alonso continued to play for the Blues under Maurizio Sarri and Frank Lampard. However, the full-back was exposed more often now due to the managers' preference to play a back four.

The 30-year-old's Chelsea career went on a downward spiral after an infamous fallout with former manager Lampard last season. He did, however, make a comeback under current manager Thomas Tuchel with the German switching to a back three, enabling Alonso to play in his preferred wing-back position.

Alonso has registered 18 assists for the Blues so far, with seven of them coming during the 2018-19 season under Sarri. Alonso, however, has more goals (25) than assists for the Blues and has been the highest-scoring defender in the Premier League since joining the club.

The left-back has been in excellent form this season for Chelsea, which has even seen him earn a call-up to Spain's national team during the international break.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta is the player with the most assists in the current squad. This doesn't come as a surprise considering that the Spaniard has been performing at the highest level for the Blues in the last 10 years.

Joining the club from Marseille in 2012 for £8 million, the current Chelsea captain has been a key part of the Blues' defense. His determination, hard work and sheer grit has helped him become one of the best full-backs in Premier League history.

The Osasuna graduate has been used in a variety of positions for the Blues. He has operated as a right-back, left-back, wing-back and even as a centre-back in a three-man defense. His versatility makes him a huge asset for Chelsea.

Azpilicueta has managed to register 56 assists in all competitions at Stamford Bridge with 41 of them coming in the Premier League. This has put him fourth on the list of all-time assists for Premier League defenders. The full-back has even managed to register six assists on four different occasions in the league (2012-13, 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20).

Despite being 32, Azpilicueta is still going strong for the Blues and does not look like slowing down anytime soon.
