#2. Helping Egypt To Qualify For The World Cup
It is the fate of great players to face the toughest challenges, Salah faced some difficult tests this season. Before he led Liverpool to the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2008, the Egyptian had already overcome a tougher task in his homeland.
He helped his nation to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Russia. That was the first time the country qualified for the tournament since 1990. They finally made it, thanks to Salah who single-handedly ran riot in the clash against Congo on October 9, 2017.
It was an intense match, the Congolese ensured that they fought until the very end. After 63 minutes of the intense contest, the Liverpool winger broke the deadlock, latching on to a through pass from Arsenal midfielder, Mohamed Elneny.
The Congolese fourth back, gaining an equalizer in the 86th minute as Arnold Bouka Mouto beat Egypt's goalkeeper, Essam El-Hadary with a ferocious left-footed volley. However, it was Salah who later decided the game with a fantastic penalty kick in the 95th minute to secure Egypt's place in Russia.
