#3 Alisson Becker (Liverpool)
Alisson Becker is Ederson Moraes' competition in the Brazil national side. The Liverpool goalkeeper has grown in reputation since joining Liverpool in 2018. His arrival and subsequent exploits were crucial to the Merseysiders winning the Champions League and the Premier League in 2018-19 and 2019-20 respectively.
Alisson is arguably the best goalkeeper in the English top-flight and just like his compatriot Ederson, he also showcases great distribution skills. He can telegraph long balls to his forwards and is also a courageous goalkeeper with great reflexes and decision making ability.
Alisson's positioning and agility have gone a long way towards making Liverpool one of the most solid defensive units in Europe. Prior to his arrival, the Merseysiders' goalkeeping department had become a major cause for concern for the club.
He kept 15 cleansheets in 42 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool in the 2020-21 season.
#2 Casemiro (Real Madrid)
Casemiro is by a fair distance the best midfielder that South America has on offer in the present day. The Brazilian defensive midfielder has been playing as a single midfield pivot for Real Madrid. He played a critical role in their three consecutive Champions League title wins.
Alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, Casemiro forms one of the most dominant midfield trios of the 21st century. He is irreplaceable in the Brazilian national side as well. Casemiro has added a lot to the attacking side of his game and is seen bombing forward to assist is teammates in the final third quite often these days.
But his primary responsibility is to be a thorn in the neck for the opposition at the center of the pitch. He pulls that off with aplomb. Casemiro is an intelligent, robust, hard-working and hard-tackling midfielder who is as adept at winning the ball back as he is at kickstarting attacks for his side.
While he is not the most technically refined player, Casemiro keeps things tidy with his passing and acts as a strong shield to his backline.
#1 Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain)
Lionel Messi might have touched down in the French capital but Neymar is still the King of Paris. The talismanic forward is one of the most exciting footballers in the world. Neymar's technical superiority coupled with his natural flair for the game and his street-smarts make him one of the best in the world.
He can score goals, orchestrate play and send defenders to attack barren tufts of grass with his incredible skills and trickery. Neymar is quite often the difference maker for both club and country and Brazil are quite reliant on him for that creative spark in the final third.
In the 2020-21 season, Neymar scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for PSG. He was one of the best players at the 2021 Copa America as well, scoring two goals and providing three assists in six appearances.
