A match centred more around Ronaldo's showdown with Real Madrid team-mate Gareth Bale than around their respective nations - Portugal and Wales, turned out to be one of the greatest matches in Cristiano Ronaldo's life.
The high-pressure game started with all the responsibilities on the shoulder of Ronaldo to create history and assuage the pain of their defeat in the 2004 final.
As the game kicked off, Ronaldo was all over the pitch to help his teammates in defence, midfield, and attack. Ronaldo was magnificent in the first half, causing troubles for the opponents, but as the second half started, an immense header from Cristiano Ronaldo and a quickfire second from Nani ended Wales' fairytale in Lyon.
Having lost three European Championship semi-finals, Portugal were determined to hold on to their advantage, and sealed the game to make it through to the finals, where they took on France, and subsequently won the title.
