#4 July 2014 - Real Madrid 1-3 United
In the summer of 2014, Louis Van Gaal's Manchester United took part in the pre-season tournament, the International Champions Cup, where they found themselves paired up against Real Madrid in Group A of the competition.
The game was played in Michigan Stadium, nicknamed 'The Big House' which saw the attendance record set at 109,318!
Van Gaal had already registered wins against the LA Galaxy, Roma and Inter Milan and now faced Real Madrid who were European Champions.
It was the ex-United man's opening goal in the 21st minute that caught the eye. In an attack that involved 20 passes in its build-up, Darren Fletcher played a one-two with Wayne Rooney, and a quick pass from Fletcher to Danny Welbeck picked out an unmarked Young on the left in the box and he tucked it into the bottom corner to give United the lead.
The ex-United player found himself on the scoresheet again 16 minutes later, after Gareth Bale had scored the equaliser in the 27th minute from a penalty before Chicharito added a third with 10 minutes to go.
United went on to play Liverpool in the International Champions Cup final.
