#3 Argentina | 1,395 points

Colombia vs Argentina - FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar Qualifier

Argentina's struggles last decade on the international scene are well-documented.

Much was expected from their 2014 World Cup squad, but they lost to Germany in the final. The pressure on talisman and captain Lionel Messi has been intense, and two disappointing losses in the finals of Copa America have increased the scrutiny on Messi.

Argentina have done well so far at Copa America 2021, with Messi one of their best players at the tournament. A successful campaign would go a long way to reducing the burden of expectations on Messi's shoulders.

#2 Spain | 1,466 points

Slovakia vs Spain - UEFA Euro 2020: Group E
Slovakia vs Spain - UEFA Euro 2020: Group E

Since Spain's incredible success under Vicente del Bosque, they have gone through a period of rebuilding.

Their current Euro 2020 squad is filled with technically gifted players but no recognisable match winner. La Furia Roja are a work in progress right now, but manager Luis Enrique is a talented manager who clearly has a plan.

Spain did not do well at the FIFA World Cup in 2018, and they are not among the favourites to win Euro 2020. Nevertheless, their performance against Slovakia has shown that they can be a fluid and exciting unit at their best, and there are signs of the next great Spain squad in this team.

#1 Germany | 1,472 points

Portugal vs Germany - UEFA Euro 2020: Group F
Portugal vs Germany - UEFA Euro 2020: Group F

Since winning the FIFA World Cup in 2014, the decline of the German national team has been evident.

Long-serving manager Joachim Low is set to depart after Euro 2020 and will be replaced by Hansi Flick. Germany were abysmal during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, exiting the competition after the group stage. Die Mannschaft have not impressed at Euro 2020 as well.

With a new era set to begin post the competition, Germany will want to give Low the send-off he deserves. Germany face England in the Round of 16, and if they manage to beat their old rivals, they will fancy their chances of a successful campaign at Euro 2020.
