#1 Erdal Rakip
Swedish under-21 midfielder Erdal Rakip joined Crystal Palace on loan from Benfica, until the end of the season. The 21-year-old is a central midfielder who, earlier this month, moved from Malmo to the Portuguese capital, before immediately being loaned out, subsequently becoming Roy Hodgson’s first signing of this transfer window at Crystal Palace.
A product of Malmo’s academy, Rakip made his debut for his hometown team in 2013 and has made 120 times appearances in all competitions. During his 5 seasons in the Malmo first-team, the crafty midfielder played a key role in the Sky Blues’ recent dominance, picking up four Allsvenskan winners medals.
An experienced youngster with great ability, technique and pace, Rakip is a smart move for Palace and will add steel to central midfielder area. With Loftus-Cheek out injured and a few of the players not in form, Rakip has an opportunity to establish himself in the team and make a name for himself in the Premier League.
