#3 Manchester City - £100 million

Did Manchester City really need to strengthen this summer? Not really. But did they still manage to add one of the best playmakers in the Premier League to their already star-studded midfield? Yes.

That cost them £100 million but if we know anything about Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, it is that money is not a problem for them. It remains to be seen how good a fit Grealish will be at Manchester City but his quality will definitely shine through.

The only concern is that the likes of Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva now have even more competition for a starting berth. While competition within the squad is good, big players can get frustrated owing to a lack of game time.

#2 Manchester United - £114 million

After a rather disappointing 2020 summer transfer window, Solskjaer did enough in the 2020-21 season to earn some backing from the board this time around. Manchester United have made two world-class signings and the best thing is that they were able to get the players for a fair price.

They signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for £76.5 million. The former Borussia Dortmund winger had a highly successful stint in the Bundesliga. He scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund.

Right wing is a position Manchester United have wanted to strengthen for a long time and Sancho is a great addition to the squad. Their second big-money signing is Raphael Varane. Signing a World Cup winner who still has plenty of years in him for £36.5 million is a bargain. They've also signed goalkeeper Tom Heaton on a free transfer.

#1 Arsenal - £129 million

Arsenal had a very disappointing 2020-21 season. They were expected to invest heavily in the summer transfer window and they have. David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano have confirmed that Arsenal have reached an agreement with Sheffield United for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. He will cost them £24 million (+£6 million in add-ons).

Former Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White is Arsenal's most expensive signing of the summer. They signed him for £52.65 million. Midfielder Samuel Lokonga cost Arsenal 15.75 million while young left-back Nuno Tavares was signed from Benfica for £7.2 million.

Martin Odegaard has been permanently signed for £31.5 million from Real Madrid. The pressure is now on manager Mikel Arteta to deliver as his side have been the biggest spenders in the Premier League this summer.
