The Premier League has a lot of cash to burn and it is no surprise that the Premier League clubs have been linked with the biggest deals this summer. This year, there have been a lot of crazy transfer rumours flying around, but, all rumours have a foundation in truth.
Let us take a look at some of the craziest transfers which might actually happen this season:
Leonardo Bonucci to Manchester City
Bonucci is currently one of the best centre-backs in the world and it is no surprise that he has been heavily linked to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Although Juventus are more than keen to hold on to their man, the sheer spending power of the Citizens might force their hand into selling their best defender.
The Italian followed up a stellar domestic campaign with some amazing performances in Euro 2016 and his signing will definitely bolster the Manchester City defence. The former Bayern boss called Bonucci was one of his 'all-time favourite players' when his team were taking on Juventus in the Champions League and has been following the maverick Italian defender for several years.
His ability to play gorgeous balls out from defence is a quality Pep is especially interested in and an attribute that will be crucial in helping him stamp his style of play on the Premier League side.
With Manchester City willing to break the bank and pay close to €60 million for the defender, Juventus might just be tempted to take the cash.
Alvaro Morata to Arsenal
Arsenal definitely need a quality striker, and one striker whose name has been doing the rounds is Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata. Morata was recently re-signed by Real Madrid from Juventus for €30 million but they are said to be interested in cashing in on him this summer to fund moves for other targets.
Spanish publication Don Balon even claimed that Arsenal had readied a contract offer for the Spanish international. With any deal set to cost more than €50m, Arsenal fans might not be too optimistic about Morata’s arrival, but Wenger in the recent past has shown that he is capable of pulling off surprise signings like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
What probably makes Arsenal favourites is the fact that Morata himself seems to prefer a move to Arsenal and Wenger might just surprise everyone and stump up the cash to sign the talented Spain forward.
Morata, Ozil, Sanchez.... Arsenal fans might be in for a treat next season.
N’golo Kante to Chelsea/Real Madrid
N’golo Kante has been unstoppable in the last 12 months and his performances in the middle of the park was a key component in Leicester City’s fairytale Premier League triumph. It is no wonder that he has been linked with all the top clubs across Europe.
Real Madrid have been linked the most to the midfield destroyer. El Confidencial reckon Kante has no release clause in his contract, and shouldn’t cost more than €30m. There have been conflicting reports over the Frenchman having a release clause, but there is no doubt he is worth any fee below €50m.
Latest reports have also linked him to Antonio Conte’s Chelsea with the former Italian manager a huge fan of the Leicester City midfielder. The prospect of Kante remaining a Leicester City player next season definitely looks bleak.
James Rodriguez to Paris Saint-Germain
James Rodriguez’s future has been subject to intense speculation and with James struggling to get regular playing time at Real Madrid, it looks like a big money transfer to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain will suit all parties.
James Rodriguez struggled for form and fitness with Real Madrid this season and now latest reports from Sport claim that Florentino Perez is ready to sell the out of favour Colombian playmaker. James showed glimpses of his class in the recently concluded Copa America Centenario tournament where he guided his side to a third-place finish. However, Zidane is not convinced with the former Porto star and is keen to sell him.
The same report claims that Paris Saint-Germain are leading the race to sign James, with Real Madrid wanting close to £63m for his signature. Paris Saint-Germain’s new manager Unai Emery is also said to be a huge fan of the Colombian star.
Paul Pogba to Manchester United
This is one transfer rumour that has refused to die down. Former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson allowed him to leave United as a free agent in 2012 and he joined Juventus that summer. The move has probably been one of the few mistakes made by the former Manchester United manager in his career.
After moving to Italy, Pogba has become one of the most sought after midfielders in the world with some reports even claiming that Pogba has agreed personal terms with the Premier League giants.
Mourinho in his first press conference admitted that he wants to bring in four specialists in the summer transfer window.
"We made a nucleus of four positions as a priority to give a certain balance to the squad, and a push in terms of quality that I want," United manager explained.
"As you know, especially the ones with more vision, I am a manager that likes specialists, not multi-functional players."
With Mourinho having made Pogba his primary target, this could well end up being the transfer of the season.
