David de Gea's error proved to be a major talking point, as it was more than just embarrassing. On the cusp of half-time, Ronaldo arrived at the end of a promising build-up from Portugal, but failed to find the right connection with his left boot from the edge of the box.

He shot straight at de Gea, who probably had butter over his gloves, as the keeper made a hash of things and guided it to the back of his own net.
