Chelsea Football Club could be in real trouble in the future. They have got a ban which will prevent them from buying players in the next two transfer windows. This is just one of many problems they have now. Their results in the past few weeks are extremely disappointing as they are in sixth place in the Premier League.
However, this transfer ban could be a blessing in disguise as they have 41 players out on loan. They also have some excellent youngsters who are not on loan. All these players could benefit from Chelsea's transfer ban. The players we will present in this article have already deserved their chance to be a standard part of the first team. So, let's take a look at 5 young lads who could benefit from Chelsea's transfer ban.
#1 Callum Hudson-Odoi
The first player on this list is Callum Hudson Odoi. The young English winger is only 18 years old and he is definitely Chelsea's brightest talent. in this January transfer window, he was a top transfer target for Bayern Munchen. The German giants are desperate to bring some new fresh blood on wing positions. However, Chelsea resisted to all their offers and kept the player in their squad.
Willian and Pedro are the first choices for the right wing position. However, they are nowhere near the level that Chelsea needs and also, Maurizio Sarri must realize that now they can't afford to lose a talent such as Hudson Odoi. The best way to keep the player happy is to give him more time on the pitch. He must give him more playing minutes as he has already shown his potential. He has 3 goals and 3 assists this season.
#2 Ruben Loftus Cheek
During his spell at Chelsea, Maurizio Sarri has only used a 4-3-3 formation. In that formation, he only uses a technical player to play the fundamental "Regista" role. So, this position is reserved for Jorginho. On the right side of Jorginho, Sarri uses Kante. On the left side of Jorginho, Sarri mostly uses Kovačić and Barkley. Comparing to previous seasons, Ruben Loftus Cheek has been given much more minutes, but mostly on the right wing.
At the moment, it seems like midfield is Chelsea's biggest problem. There is no creativity in their midfield and also there is zero attacking threat from midfield players. Many fans want Sarri to pair Loftus Cheek with Kante and Jorginho in the starting lineup. The young Englishmen is very good with the ball at his feet and when he is on the field he is a constant attacking threat for opposition defenders.
There is no "option to buy" clause in Kovačić's loan contract so probably he won't stay at the club. Beacuse of that, this Chelsea team needs RLC more than ever.
#3 Tammy Abraham - on loan at Aston Villa
Tammy Abraham is currently on loan at Aston Villa where he cooperates with Chelsea legend, John Terry. He is taking the Championship by storm as he is Villa's best scorer with 20 goals in 28 appearances in the league this season. Two seasons ago, he also played in Championship. In that period, he was playing for Bristol City and he finished the 2016/17 with 26 goals and 4 assists in Championship. Last season, he was playing in the Premier League for Swansea.
Abraham played several friendly matches under Sarri this summer. However, just before the start of the season, Sarri decided to send him on loan. This January, Chelsea brought Gonzalo Higuain on loan until the end of this season. This ban could see Higuain back to Juventus and would mean that Chelsea must find a new striker in their squad. From week to week, Abraham is showing that he is the man to take that job.
#4 Ethan Ampadu
Ethan Ampadu is a Welsh sensation. Having only 18 years, Ampadu is already knocking on the door of Chelsea's first team. He is a very versatile player as he can play on the centre-back and also in midfield. However, the coaches should force him on the centre-back because he is not technically gifted for the "Regista" role in Sarriball. He is a very intelligent player who has all the tools to become a world-class centre-back.
Chelsea's defence is in a real mess this season. David Luiz is really good on the ball but his defensive play is very bad. Also, he has not signed a new contract with the club so his situation is not solved. This could be a perfect opportunity to highly integrate Ampadu along with Andreas Christensen for the place in the heart of the defence with Antonio Rudiger.
#5 Reece James - on loan at Wigan Athletic
The transfer ban which Chelsea is facing could be making of Reece James, the 19-year old breakout star in Championship this season. If Chelsea brings him back this summer then it would benefit them in all aspects.
He mostly plays on the right back and bringing him as a genuine rotation option with Azpilicueta will give him games and opportunities to establish himself within the first team. Also, it will give Azpilicueta a chance to be rested far more often than he is now. Having him fresher then they could expect to get a better level out of him too.
If Chelsea properly establishes James then they have a homegrown boy ready to take that spot for the next 10 years or more. He also has the makings of being a possible future captain in a few years time too.
