2011/12 season was a disappointing season for both the teams as Chelsea finished at sixth position in the table while Liverpool ended up at eighth. Despite a poor season, Liverpool supporters would have surely enjoyed this victory over their rivals which came as a result of a late solo goal from Glen Johnson.

Maxi Rodriguez opened the scoring for the visitors as he slotted the ball past Petr Cech following a decisive pass from Craig Bellamy.

Chelsea equalized in the second half through Daniel Sturridge who managed to get at the end of an excellent ball from Florent Malouda.

As the game was heading towards a draw, Glen Johnson pulled off a late winner for The Reds as he went past 2-3 Chelsea players to place the ball in the bottom corner of the net.
