#1 Chelsea 3-2 Liverpool (30 Apr 2008) - Champions League semi-final second leg
With the first leg of the semi-final tied at 1-1, both the teams came into this game knowing that only a strong performance can put their side in the final of the Champions League.
It was Chelsea who opened the scoring as Didier Drogba pounced on a rebound to give his side an early advantage. Fernando Torres equalised for The Reds as he guided the ball past the helpless Petr Cech. Both the teams failed to score the winning goal which meant that the game would extend to extra-time.
Chelsea capitalised on the errors made by Liverpool to take a 3-1 lead in the game through the goals from Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. With just three minutes left to play, Ryan Babel scored a spectacular goal from outside the box to pull one back for his side.
However, Liverpool failed to add one more as The Blues won the semi-final 4-3 on aggregate. Chelsea went on to lose the final on penalties against their fellow English giants Manchester United.
