Third on this list is Argentine midfield maestro Giovani Lo Celso. The 25-year-old midfielder has been on Tottenham’s books since the start of the 2019/20 season. Lo Celso has been unlucky with injuries during his time in London as Spurs fans have only witnessed glimpses of his potential.

The Argentine started his career in his homeland at Rosario Central; soon, sparkling performances caught Paris Saint-Germain’s eye. Lo Celso moved to the French capital in the summer of 2016 for a fee in the region of £8.5 million, but struggled to adapt at his new club.

He made only five appearances all season, which was enough to earn him medals in both the domestic French cups – Coupe de France & Coupe de la Ligue.

The 2017/18 season was a breakthrough campaign for Lo Celso as he became a regular in the heart of the Parisian midfield. 48 appearances and 6 goals was rewarded with four trophies as PSG won a domestic quadruple, with Lo Celso opening the scoring in the Coupe de France final.

In the following season, PSG spent big on the likes of Kylian Mbappe & Leandro Paredes, and as a result, Lo Celso became surplus to requirements in Paris. He joined Real Betis on loan in 2018 which, to date, remains the best season of his career. 16 goals and 6 assists from midfield was a tremendous return, one which caught Spurs’ attention.

Perceived to be the closest player stylistically to Christian Eriksen, Spurs spent £27.2 million to acquire his services from PSG in the summer of 2019. Fans will be hoping to see his influence grow in the Spurs midfield and help end their long trophy drought.

Trophies won:

Ligue 1 - 2017/18, 2018/19

Coupe de la Ligue - 2016/17, 2017/18

Second on the list is the mercurial right-back Serge Aurier, who’s won 13 pieces of silverware throughout his career.

Having started in France with Lens, Aurier rose to fame at Toulouse, where his pace and power from the right-hand side of defence helped him gain prominence. In the 2013/14 season, the Ivory Coast international was voted the best right-back in Ligue 1.

Strong performances followed at the 2014 World Cup that saw his stock rise further . Eventually, PSG won the race and signed him straight after the tournament ended.

Three solid and trophy-filled seasons followed at the Parc des Princes, and the defender won 2x Ligue 1, 3x Coupe de la Ligue, 3x Coupe de France & 4x Trophee des Champions with PSG. The Ivory Coast man has also lifted the Africa Cup of Nations with his national side in 2015, making it to the Team of the Season as the tournament's best right-back.

After falling out with PSG's higher authorities, Aurier completed a £23 million switch to Tottenham in 2017, as a replacement for the recently departed Kyle Walker. Four seasons in, Aurier has had an erratic time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and looks likely to depart Spurs in the summer.

#1 Lucas Moura (trophies won - 20)

Unsurprisingly, topping the list is Brazil international Lucas Moura. After all, the Brazilian spent six successful and trophy-filled seasons at PSG.

Lucas Moura started his career at Brazilian giants Sao Paulo and immediately impressed everyone with his natural ability. Possessing tremendous ball skills and blistering speed, Moura and Neymar were touted as the future of Brazil. After three years and regular football by the age of 20, Moura had helped the team lift the Copa Sudamericana. He was ready for the start of his European journey.

After being linked to clubs like Manchester United and Inter Milan, it was ultimately PSG who won the race for the supremely talented Brazilian. Lucas spent the next six years in Paris, winning every domestic trophy available multiple times, but the team consistently failed to replicate their domestic dominance on the European stage.

Overall, Lucas’ time in Paris turned out to be somewhat underwhelming, with him scoring just 46 goals in 229 appearances. His national team appearances also started to dwindle around the same time, although he won the 2013 Confederations Cup with Brazil, beating Spain in the final.

After the Brazilian fell out with Unai Emery at PSG, Tottenham swooped in for him in the winter window of 2018 for £25 million. He has shown flashes of brilliance during his time in England. No Spurs fan will ever forget the hat-trick he scored against Ajax in the 2018/19 Champions League semi-final to seal Tottenham’s place in the final.

Although Moura has been a regular in the Tottenham team, his inconsistencies have frustrated Spurs fans. The Brazilian is still just 28 years old and with increasing maturity, fans will hope to see more from the winger.
