#3 David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson
It is only natural to absolutely despise your manager if he enters the dressing room and, in a fit of rage, kicks a shoe at you that cuts your eyebrow, which ultimately requires two stitches to heal. This is exactly what happened between David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson as the latter’s temper and the former’s star status collided in a giant ego clash which ended up ruining their relationship
Four months after this incident, Beckham was sold to Real Madrid, where his commercial image earned the club a lot of money. Indeed, the brand of Real Madrid was further elevated with the arrival of David Beckham back then. And it can’t be helped but thought that his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson – who, apparently, didn’t approve of Beckham’s lifestyle – was the main reason for him to move.
Just over a year later, Beckham opened up about the incident. He said: "I felt like I was being bullied in public [when Ferguson verbally lashed out to him after United’s loss to Arsenal in the FA Cup]. I was being backed into a corner for no other reason than spite. I was trapped."
The former English midfielder then sweared at the manager, “something no player, certainly no United player, should ever do to the manager. The boss took a step or two towards me. There was a boot on the floor. He swung his leg and kicked it. At me? At the wall? It could have been anywhere, he was that angry now."
After that, all hell broke loose as the boot hit Beckham’s left eyebrow. "I went for the gaffer. I don't know if I've ever lost control like that before. Suddenly it was like some mad scene out of a gangster movie."
In the end, he had to be restrained by the likes of Ryan Giggs and Ruud van Nistelrooy from hitting Fergie.
