If a list of the greatest midfielders is compiled, then Bastian Schweinsteiger’s name would definitely be in it. The Bayern Munich legend began his career as an average winger but was soon shifted to the middle—where he became one of the most prominent exponents of the game.

And his partner, former tennis star, Ana Ivanovic, is an icon herself, winning the French Open in 2008. The duo is expecting their first child next year and are overjoyed about it.

She wrote on her Instagram: "A little extension to our family.

"Couldn’t be more happy!"

Schweinsteiger, who now plies his trade in Major Soccer League in the United States of America, later posted on his Twitter page: "We are expecting a new family member and are so grateful!"
