#1 Nuri Sahin
![Perhaps the most forgotten Liverpool player in recent history.](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/08/3c9b0-1535367138-800.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/08/3c9b0-1535367138-800.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/08/3c9b0-1535367138-800.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/08/3c9b0-1535367138-800.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/08/3c9b0-1535367138-800.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/08/3c9b0-1535367138-800.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/08/3c9b0-1535367138-800.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/08/3c9b0-1535367138-800.jpg 1920w)
This is an extremely curious case, as Nuri Sahin was an immensely talented midfielder. He won the Bundesliga Player of the Season award in 2010-11, as he played a huge part in Borussia Dortmund's incredible league triumph. He joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2011, before moving to Liverpool on loan the following year.
He was touted as the Reds' marquee signing. A rare one at the time. The club was struggling both on the field and in the market, which led to Sahin playing a more attacking role than he was suited to. The Turk started off well at Liverpool, scoring thrice in three days space before things went south.
Sahin never really settled at Anfield and his loan spell was terminated in January, prompting him to return to Dortmund. A place where he really felt at home. He had a positive relationship with then Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp, something a lot of players at Liverpool have now. The midfielder is still playing for Dortmund, the place where he made a name for himself.
His move to Anfield felt like a compromise for more playing time and the player was not exactly happy at Liverpool. Sahin, for as talented as he is, could not make the impact that was hoped for him. This will always remain an odd period for both Nuri Sahin and Liverpool fans. Again, like the others on this list this is a player who is not at all known for his time at Liverpool.
