The former Liverpool and Manchester City goalkeeper, David James, kept 172 clean sheets in 552 Premier League games, putting him at number two on this list.

David James started his professional career with Watford and moved to the Premier League side, Liverpool in 1992. He played 214 games for the Reds before leaving the club to join Aston Villa in 1999.

However, his stay at Villa lasted for only two years and he joined West Ham United in 2001. The former England international also enjoyed spells with Manchester City and Portsmouth in the Premier League before playing for Bristol City and Bournemouth in the English lower league.

David James announced his retirement from professional football in 2014 and is now involved in coaching.
