#3 Irfan Kahveci becomes the third player to score a Champions League hat-trick in a losing cause
Irfan Kahveci scored a dazzling hat-trick to twice peg back RB Leipzig's two-goal leads, but his efforts came to nothing as Istanbul Basaksehir conceded an injury-time winner to fall short in a seven-goal Champions League thriller.
Leipzig burst into a 2-0 lead before Kahveci pulled one back for the hosts. However, Julian Nagelsmann's charges were quick to reassert their ascendancy and took a 3-1 lead.
With the visitors squandering numerous chances to put the game to bed, Basaksehir drew parity on the night as Kahveci scored two more goals to bring up his first Champions League hat-trick.
However, the comeback and Kahveci's exploits eventually came to nought as Leipzig scored in injury time to take all three points.
In the process, the 25-year-old Kahveci emulated Ronaldo Nazario and Gareth Bale as the only players to score a Champions League hat-trick in a losing cause.
#2 Olivier Giroud becomes the oldest player to score a Champions League hat-trick
Embattled French striker Olivier Giroud proved to Frank Lampard and Chelsea that he ought to start more games for the club despite the wealth of attacking options at the club's disposal.
With qualification already secured going into the Matchday 5 game at Sevilla, Giroud made a rare start and made it count as he netted all four goals for Chelsea.
That made the 34-year-old World Cup winner the oldest player to net a Champions League hat-trick, breaking the previous record held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Claudio Pizzaro.
In the process, Giroud became the only French player, along with Karim Benzema, to net two Champions League hat-tricks.
The striker's quadruple also made him the first Chelsea player in a decade (Frank Lampard) to score four goals in a game in any competition.
#1 Cristiano Ronaldo nets his 750th goal for club and country
Cristiano Ronaldo, the record goalscorer in Champions League history, added another feather to his illustrious cap on Matchday 5 by netting against Dynamo Kyiv in Juventus' 3-0 win.
Continuing his blistering start to the season, Ronaldo scored the 132nd Champions League goal of his career, second of this campaign, and tenth in all competitions for the Bianconeri this season.
It was Ronaldo's 750th goal for club and country, with the Portuguese maestro also bringing up his record 71st 'home' goal in the Champions League. Lionel Messi has scored 70 home goals in the competition, a mark Ronaldo emulated by scoring on Matchday 4.
The 35-year-old has scored exactly 450 goals for Real Madrid, 118 for Manchester United, 102 for Portugal and five for Sporting Lisbon.
