The Spanish international joined Liverpool's youth academy in 2010 and was tipped to achieve big things with the club. However, he failed to live up to the expectations and managed to make only 14 Premier League appearances.

He was loaned to Almeria for the 2013-14 season and was eventually sold to AC Milan in the January transfer window of 2015. But Suso couldn't establish himself in Milan's starting line-up and was loaned to Genoa during the January transfer season of 2016.
Liverpool youth academy graduate impressed during his loan spell and bagged six goals along with two assists in 19 Serie A games. His performances also caught the attention of AC Milan's boardroom and he started featuring regularly during the 2016-2017 season. He finished the season with seven goals and nine assists.
He has played 103 times in all competitions for the Milan based club, scoring 17 and assisting 32 goals. His form for Milan also earned him his first call-up for the national team and he made his debut against Russia on 14 November 2017.
