#1 Rui Costa
Rui Costa became the most expensive signing for AC Milan when he signed from Fiorentina at the start of the 2001 season. Fatih Terim brought the player to the Rossoneri when he joined the club, paying a mammoth €44 million for the Portuguese who didn't disappoint - helping Milan win the Champions League in 2002/03.
Costa also went on to win a Serie A title, a Coppa Italia, a Supercoppa Italiana and one UEFA Super Cup with the Italian giants, before Kaka replaced him as a starter in the team - as the Brazilian became the world's best player under Carlo Ancelotti.
