Southampton have now long been embroiled in the battle to keep Virgil van Dijk away from the grasp of the bigger clubs who are after him. And it could end soon.
Liverpool have already been pegged back in their approach for the Dutchman after the Saints lodged an official complaint against their attempts to sign him. The Reds later released a statement saying that they have dropped interest in the defender.
Chelsea too are said to be after the former Celtic star and with Tottenham now already having signed Davinson Sanchez and Manchester United holding Victor Lindelof, Chelsea could be the only side to go after Van Dijk if Liverpool don’t come back in for him.
The Reds have witnessed a fair share of defensive issues and he could be the man to shore up the backline. With Wesley Hoedt now signed by Southampton, it seems as if van Dijk will soon be on his way out.
