The 4-0 triumph of Manchester United is one of the biggest margins of victory for the Red Devils over their enemies in the Premier League.
The game started off horribly for Liverpool when Sami Hyypia brought down Ruud Van Nistelrooy in the box and was shown a straight red card after just five minutes into the game.
The penalty was converted by the Dutchman to give United an early lead. The home side were at the end of receiving some favourable decisions.
A second penalty was awarded when Igor Biscan had a kick in the shin region of an approaching Paul Scholes and Nistelrooy converted from the spot to make it 2-0 with 65 minutes on the clock.
The United No.9 had a glorious opportunity of finishing his hattrick but missed the ball completely with his diving header off a David Beckham cross. However, the same cross was put away by Giggs, who scored his first goal in the Premier League following a two-year drought.
In the 90th minute, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added further pain for the Reds to score the fourth goal for his team and cap of a league double over the Merseysiders.
It was an important win as United marched towards an eighth league title while Nistelrooy finished top scorer with 25 goals.
