Marco Ballotta played 25 seasons of professional football as a goalkeeper in Italy and was never once capped for his country. He spent a majority of his career with Lazio and in 2007 became the oldest player aged 43 years and 253 days, to play in UEFA Champions League fixture.
It was against Real Marid at the Santiago Bernabeu and Lazio was beaten by 3 goals to 1. Julio Baptista, Raul, and Robinho capped off a comfortable win for the home side as Goran Pandev netted a consolation goal late in the game for Lazio. The Italian club didn't progress from their group that season and was knocked out of the tournament.
Ballotta began his career with San Lazzaro in 1982, before joining Modena in 1984 and spending the next six seasons at the club. Spells with 6 different Serie A clubs followed including two spells at Lazio before he called time on his career in 2008.
