#3 Alan Shearer - 87
Alan Shearer is one of the most prolific goalscorers the English top-flight has seen. Shearer was a revelation at Blackburn Rovers, where he won the league title in 1995. He then joined Newcastle in the summer of 1996. Shearer spent most of his career with the Magpies, scoring 206 goals in 405 appearances across all competitions.
The Englishman seemed to score for fun as he won the Golden Boot for three successive seasons starting in 1994-95. Shearer has scored 87 away goals in the Premier League. He was also the fastest to reach a century of Premier League goals, achieving the feat in 124 games.
Shearer is the league’s all-time leading goalscorer with 260 goals. Harry Kane, who is currently on 171 goals, is currently the only player who can try to catch up to the English icon. Shearer called time on his incredible career in 2006 and is now a much-admired pundit on BBC’s Match of the Day.
#2 Harry Kane - 90
Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has been a consistent source of goals in the Premier League. The Englishman is Spurs’ leading goal scorer in the Premier League era with 171 goals, scoring 90 of these away from home. The prolific striker has won the Golden Boot on three occasions in addition to six Player of the Month honors.
Kane also won the Playmaker of the Season award for a phenomenal 2020-21 season in which he had 23 goals and 14 assists.
By his usual standards, Kane has been dismal in front of goal this season. He has managed just five goals and two assists in 21 appearances.
Kane is yet to win a trophy with Tottenham which has been a cause of frustration for the striker. Manchester City were keen to sign the striker last summer but the deal couldn't be finalized due to a mismatch in the price.
Spurs are currently eighth in the league and are desperately fighting to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
#1 Wayne Rooney - 94
One of the Premier League’s greatest forwards, Wayne Rooney will always be remembered for his terrific goalscoring prowess, especially with Manchester United. Rooney amassed a large collection of trophies in the 13 years he spent with the Red Devils. The Englishman won five league titles, one Champions League, one FA Cup and four League Cups with United.
Rooney's record of 208 league goals is the second-best in the league and he scored 94 times in games away from home. Harry Kane, who is just four away goals short, should be able to overtake Rooney by the end of the current season.
After an illustrious career with United, Rooney made his return to Everton at the start of the 2017-18 season. He also played for DC United and Derby County.
Rooney stepped into the world of management in 2020 with Derby and is currently fighting a losing battle with the Rams in the Championship.
