Arsenal have just finished their Dubai warm weather training camp. This provided 23 young Arsenal players, including some first team players, to get in some extra training during the international break and also play in a friendly against Al-Nasr Dubai SC, with the match ending with a 3-2 win for the Gunners.
The squad did include some first team players including Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette, but 12 of the 23 players on the training camp were under the age of 23.
So here is a look at 5 Arsenal players that you may not know much about and who are they.
#5 Arthur Okonwo
The 17 year old goalkeeper has been at the club since the age of seven and has not looked back. He is currently part of the Under-18 squad and has impressed hugely.
Due to his impressive form, the English stopper was recently handed his first professional contract. This is good news for Arsenal because he had considered leaving, with both Celtic and RB Leipzig being interested in the young goalkeeper. He did not feature in the match in Dubai but he looks like he may have a bright future ahead of him.
#4 Ben Sheaf
The 21 year old currently plays for Arsenal Under-23s. However, it seems that his time at Arsenal may nearly be up. He has only ever played one minute of professional football for Arsenal, and that was last season in the Europa League.
Since then he has done very little in terms of professional football. Sheaf did not feature in the match in Dubai, perhaps suggesting that Unai Emery does not think very highly of him. My predidction is that either he will get released by Arsenal in the summer or he will be sold.
#3 Tyreece John-Jules
The 18 year old who currently plays in the Under-23s, scored a vital goal to ensure that Arsenal won in Dubai with a cool finish from the youngster.
The young forward came on for Alexandre Lacazette with 23 minutes of the game to go and made a good impression. At 18, he could have a bright future ahead of him.
Personally I feel that he should go out on loan next season in order to get more game time and continue his development.
#2 Xavier Amaechi
Xavier Amaechi would be very happy to have got 45 minutes of game time in Dubai for the first team.
The 18 year old is considered to be a very promising player and has done very well after being injured for over three months, which he returned from in late December.
It will be interesting to see how he does next season but I am sure another season in the Under-23s would do him no bad at all next season. A player to look out for in the future.
#1 Jordi Osei-Tutu
Jordi Osei-Tutu, at the age of 20, is becoming one for the future perhaps. Unai Emery clearly liked the player, when he was called up for the Arsenal pre-season tour and played in a couple of matches. Then it got even better for him when he called up to the first-team squad to be on the bench for a Europa League game in November.
So it was no surprise when Emery called him up to the 23 man squad for Dubai. Osei-Tutu played the last 23 minutes of the game and clearly impressed with some good link up play and confident passing.
At the age of 20, I feel that he could next season play a bigger part in the squad. Nacho Monreal, one of the first-team left backs for Arsenal, is 33 and so next season he is likely to start to tire.
So, it would make sense to call Osei-Tutu up especially when Sead Kolasinac is a good option for first choice left back. So next season I see Jordi Osei-Tutu taking Monreal's spot as the second choice left back. This could see the young left back get a lot more game time, which will be great for his development.
