#3. Joshua Zirkzee
Zirkzee is another talented youngster who has shown glimpses of his brilliance but has never managed to show consistency or conviction. Zirkzee joined Bayern from Feyernord's youth team in 2018. He was drafted into the junior teams and he was off the charts pretty soon.
He scored goals for fun in the regional youth leagues. His physical stature and acceleration made him a nightmare for any opposition defender. His impressive performances had given the Bayern management a hope that they have found a player who can succeed Robert Lewandowski in the future.
The Dutchman has layers to his game as he is not only a goalscorer. Zirkzee can also slot in as a winger on either flank and can create chances and openings for his teammates. However, once that initial craze was over the youngster did not show that level of consistency anymore.
Some people thought he was just a flash in the pan. The management then brought in Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as they thought Zirkzee was not ready for first-team minutes even as a backup for Robert Lewandowski. The 20-year-old versatile forward was then loaned out to Parma and unfortunately, even that spell did not go well for him as he only made four appearances in Serie A for the Italian outfit.
Currently back in Bavaria, Zirkzee has no direction and does not know where his career is headed. Once destined for greatness, the Dutch striker's growth has stalled in the last couple of years. Looking at Bayern's current condition, Zirkzee is one of the players who could get sold this summer, and with clubs like Juventus, Everton and PSG interested, the 20-year-old would love to start afresh.
#2. Corentin Tolisso
Corentin Tolisso is arguably Bayern Munich's biggest disappointment in terms of transfers in the last five years. The French midfielder joined Bayern from Lyon when he was one of the most highly rated young midfielders in Ligue 1. Several top clubs had their eyes on Tolisso mainly because of his large palette of attributes. Although he relishes the role of an advanced playmaker, he can also slot in as a box-to-box midfielder as his combative nature helps him win duels in the middle of the field.
Ever since joining Bayern, the Frenchman has not had a season without suffering an injury. Apart from a few matches here and there, Tolisso has never managed to cement a spot in Bayern's starting eleven. Even if the coach wanted him to give a prolonged run, his fitness came in the way.
Ever since the 2017/18 season, Tolisso has not clocked a thousand minutes in a season in the Bundesliga. Injuries, inconsistent form and disciplinary issues have hindered his growth as a footballer at Bayern.
With players like Marc Roca, Torben Rhein and others looking for a bigger role in the upcoming season, Tolisso's Bayern stint will come to an end this summer. Juventus have shown interest in signing the 26-year-old midfielder but they haven't come to terms with the German champions. A move away from Bavaria may reinvigorate the Frenchman and help him realize his potential in a new environment.
#1. Niklas Sule
A surprise inclusion on this list, but considering the tough financial phase that Bayern Munich are going through, Niklas Sule could be one of the players sacrificed to free up funds. The German defender came to Bayern in 2017 from Hoffenheim and has left a huge impact in Bavaria over the years.
Still only 25, Sule has helped Bayern win four consecutive Bundesliga titles and played a pivotal role in the Champions League victory in the 2019-20 season. The Hoffenheim youth academy graduate is a proper hustler. He may not be the craftiest player around but it is his willpower and determination that allows him to tackle every danger in defence.
The stocky centre-back, who uses his physical stature to win important duels, has been a very important player for Bayern over the last few years. With David Alaba joining Real Madrid and the club deciding not to extend Jerome Boateng's contract, Bayern will be reluctant to sell another one of their star centre-backs. But they have already roped in Dayot Upamecano, and considering their financial crunch, they may have to take a call on Niklas Sule.
There are other factors as well, with rumours suggesting that management are not happy with Sule's overall commitment to the team. It has been reported that he has not performed well in training sessions. There have been questions over his fitness, and the 25-year-old has also suffered some major injury issues over the last few years.
With players Lucas Hernandez, Benjamin Pavard and Tanguy Kouassi all capable of partnering Upamecano, Bayern may ship out Sule this summer. It is no secret that the former Hoffenheim man will help the club free up the maximum amount of funds and he will be no short of suitors, with Chelsea said to be interested.
