The 32-year-old England international is one of the most naturally gifted right-backs in the game of football and was signed by Chelsea FC in the summer of 2003 for £6 million from West Ham United.
Things didn’t really go according to plan for the youngster under Jose Mourinho as he was second choice right back behind Paulo Ferreira and was never really given a chance to shine for the London club. He eventually moved on to Portsmouth in 2007.
After two wonderful seasons with Pompey, the right-back was signed up by Liverpool in 2009 for £17.5 million and did decently well, establishing himself as a regular for both club and country during his days on Merseyside.
Currently, the right back plays for Stoke City in the Premier League after five seasons with the Merseyside club.
