Manchester City have a great squad. They probably have the right balance of youth and experience and can be easily regarded as the best in England, if not Europe.
However, there are a few players who need to be replaced by them. The Cityzens have a couple of players who can be deemed as 'deadwood' and a couple others who are getting too old for the squad.
Here's a look at 5 such players:
#5 Yaya Toure
Yaya Toure has been at Manchester City for eight years now. Ever since his £28 million move from Barcelona the Ivory Coast international has been a vital member of the starting XI.
However, things have not been the same since Pep Guardiola took over at the start of last season. He was first 'banned' from the team and then never selected because he was not suited for the CDM role and also because he's slow.
Manchester City are interested in signing Fred from Shakhtar this summer as his replacement. They face competition from Manchester United and will have to make a quick move.
#4 Claudio Bravo
Claudio Bravo has been one of the worst signings made by Manchester City in recent times. The Chile goalkeeper was horrible for them in between the post last season and that got them to sign Ederson.
He has not been that great as a #2 either and ManCity need to have a better backup option in the squad. They paid £15.4 million to Barcelona to sign him – even if they get 1/3rd of it, it would be a good deal for them.
#3 David Silva
David Silva has undoubtedly been one of the best players for Manchester City this season. However, he's 32-years-old and needs to be replaced.
He was signed for £24 million in 2010 from Valencia and a return to the Spanish club would be a brilliant thing for him.
He missed a couple of games this season as he had to due to personal reasons and he had to travel to Spain for it. His family is there and it'd be a great move for him and the club if he decides to leave.
#2 Vincent Kompany
Vincent Kompany was signed by Manchester City in 2008 for an undisclosed fee. He has been phenomenal for the Cityzens whenever he has been on the pitch but that has been very limited due to his injuries.
His time at Etihad is fast coming to an end and Guardiola needs to find a replacement. Laporte cannot be the one as he should be a marquee signing and not a replacement.
Who can replace him? The best option would be Samuel Umtiti. He's a brilliant defender and has €60 million release clause – something City can easily activate.
#1 Sergio Aguero
All good things come to an end, all fairytales have an ending and just like that, Aguero's time at Manchester City needs to come to an end. The Argentine striker might be the best striker in the Premier League right now but he's 29 years old!
The striker might have another 2-3 years of football at this level left in him, but they need to plan for the future. Gabriel Jesus needs a striker as his understudy to make him a better player.
Patrick Roberts is at Manchester City but can he fill the boots? Not really. Who can be the one? Timo Werner maybe?
