5 players with most ISL goals

Four Years! From 2014 season to 2017-18 season, we've seen aplenty goals scored in the ISL. Freekick goals, Bullet headers, Stunners, Acrobatic finishes and what else, penalties, we've seen everything.

These goals helped the teams steer the wheel of victory and helped them get past the opponents.

Sometimes, these goals decided the entire story of a drama. Some goals will forever be remembered by the fans, and others too, won't get banished from the minds of the fans anytime soon.

There are players, who have had an incredible consistency in the ISL. While the majority experienced periods of repugnance, these players stood out, took the teams on their shoulders, scored goals, innumerable times.

In this article, we will look at five players with the most ISL goals.

#5 Marcelo Leite

Don't get confused. It's your own Marcelinho! The Brazilian playmaker is one of the best crowd favourites in the Indian Super League.

Marcelinho played for Delhi Dynamos in the third season, and then for Pune City FC in the previous season.

At Delhi Dynamos, Marcelinho was a force to reckon. He was phenomenal, to say the least. He tore defenses apart. Defending him was a herculean task for all the defenders. He had all of them at his toes.

Thwarting him from creating menace was the toughest nut to crack for the defenders. He scored massive 10 times for Dynamos that season from just 15 appearances.

Pune City FC bought the player next season and Brazilian pulled off another remarkable season. He was Pune's General in the attack.

He scored eight times from 17 games and helped Pune City secure a semi-final, their's first in four years.

Marcelino has scored 18 goals from 32 games, with 0.5 goals per game ratio.

#4 Ferran Corominas

Coro recorded the highest number of goals by a player in a single ISL season

Who'd forget this man, Coro, if they watched ISL's fourth edition? None. Boy, the former Espanyol attacker was a thunderstorm in the ISL. A devastating presence in the FC Goa attack.

Quite interestingly, Coro is 35! His impressive stamina, his eye for goals and other skills might have made you think he was 28 or 29.

The Spanish attacker recorded most goals by a player in a single season. Coro scored 18 times for FC Goa this season in the ISL, from just 20 games. Age is just a number, isn't it?

The Spaniard set-up an impressive partnership with Manuel Lanzarote and undid all those flaws their vulnerable defense had made throughout the course of the season.

The duo would've helped FC Goa bring the trophy, had the repeated their performance, once more, against Chennaiyin FC in the semi-final.

As he's already decided to extend his stay with FC Goa for the next season, expect this man, dragging his name into all records in the ISL history book.

#3 Sunil Chhetri

Sunil Chhetri showed his true character this season

The man who needs no introduction. Sunil Chhetri, the names everything for the fans. The man, who has been leading Indian football for years. He's the best Indian player.

Chhetri missed the inaugural edition of Indian Super League. However, the remaining three were enough for Sunil Chhetri to get third on this list. Legend, undoubtedly!

Chhetri scored seven goals for Mumbai City FC in the second edition of the Indian Super. Unfortunately, he couldn't score any goals the next season but helped Mumbai City FC have a remarkable season.

Come this year, Chhetri was with Bengaluru FC. The Indian Football Captain had brought off a quite bewitching display. He partnered with Miku and Udanta and put the opponents tough nuts to crack, always.

Comparing his three seasons in the ISL, he had shown his true behavior this time around. His killer instinct, his match-deciding abilities were on show this time.

Chhetri has scored 21 goals from 38 games. Excellent!

#2 Jeje Lalpekhlua

Jeje Lalpekhlua has been a key member for Chennaiyin FC over the years

The Mizo Sniper is one of India's most expensive player, and he has made sure that the tag fits him well.

A Chennaiyin team member since the first league in 2014, Jeje already has two league titles to his name.

Jeje played for Chennaiyin in the inaugural season and scored four goals, most by an Indian that season. The second edition saw the Mizo Sniper bagging his goals to his name.

Quick, smart and effective, Jeje gave the defenders a run for their money in the first two season. In the third season, he, like Chennaiyin, endured a tragic campaign. He managed to score only three goals to his name that season.

However, the fourth season saw a different Jeje. He wasn't the striker who struggled, he was a player, who had massive responsibilities on his shoulders and he managed to come up with an exhilarating performance.

The 27-year-old attacker scored nine goals this season and made sure he contributed vastly to Chennaiyin's triumph. Resurrection, that's the word.

He's scored 22 goals, one more than Chhetri, from 53 matches.

#1 Iain Hume

Hume was back with the Kerala Blasters this season

The Canadian attacker is ISL's all-time top-scorer! He's played in the all the four ISL seasons.

In the first season, Hume played for Kerala Blasters, but switched ATK the next season, and plied his trade for two-years there.

The Canadian then returned back to Kerala Blasters in the recent edition. But, missed many games due to an injury.

He was Kerala Blasters' trump card in the first edition. The Canadian's impressive performance, along with their defensive solidity, helped them reach the finals.

He scored five goals for Kerala Blasters and was voted as the best player of that season.

He then joined ATK and scored 11 goals and had four assists to his name in the second edition.

The Kolkata franchise retained him next season, and he paid them off, helping them clinch ISL trophy again.

Hume scored seven goals for them that season and his performances were phenomenal. The much-awaited return of Iain Hume happened this season. Kerala Blasters signed Iain Hume for the season.

Despite struggling in the first few games, Hume managed to get back in the race and scored five goals to his name from 14 matches. Hume then got injured and missed the ISL.

Hume has scored 28 goals in the ISL from 59 matches. The hardworking Canadian rightly deserves this position.
