Turkish and Barcelona attacking midfielder, Arda Turan, joined the Catalan giants in 2015 after an impressive five seasons at Atletico Madrid. As well as the national team captain, Turan is a 15-year professional who has played at the highest level of international football.
The 30-year-old, since his move from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona, has struggled to find playing time at the Nou Camp. During his two seasons at the club, both Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde have not used Turkey's captain, as he has failed to make a significant impact at the club.
Turan has found it hard to find form at the club, largely due to inconsistent appearances and has played just 36 games so far in his career with Barcelona. As the January transfer window edges closer, Turan is looking for a move away from the club to rediscover his career and gain regular playing time.
Here, we take a look at five possible destinations for the Turkish captain.
#1 Atletico Madrid
Former Atletico Madrid midfielder, Arda Turan is on the verge of a move away from his current employers Barcelona. One of his potential transfer options is a move back to his former side Atletico Madrid, under Diego Simeone.
Currently, in third place, Atletico are six points off the leaders Barcelona, 15 games into the season and the addition of Turan back into the ranks could boost the club's bid in the title race.
A versatile attacking player, Turan is well known for a thunderous shot, coupled with great dribbling and precision passing. Having not made a single appearance in the league this season, a move back to rivals Atletico could affect Barcelona, as Turan will be raring to go.
Simeone recently ruled out coaxing Griezmann to stay at the club and could use the experienced Turkish captain and former player to bolster their attacking options in the long-run.
#2 Everton
Sam Allardyce will be eager to add more firepower up front, given Everton are going to be busy in the January transfer market as Barkley and Miralles might opt to leave the club. While Barkley looks set to leave the club. Mirallas could be coaxed into staying until the end of the season.
Turan could boost the squad and add much-needed experience to the front-line and serve as an effective reinforcement to replace a player like Barkley. With great drive and a sharp turn of pace, the Turkish player could be an instant hit at Merseyside given his previous employers and the calibre he has as a player.
At times a mesmeric player, Turan's grit and energy will bode exceptionally well for the Toffees and could be a great addition to the squad. In 10th position, the club is just 9 points off the top four and a push for Europe is far from out the window for Allardyce and Everton.
The Turk could help the manager and the players in crunch situations and big games, in the second half of the season. He will be a clever signing and it would signal a message of intent from the club eager to push forward.
#3 Trabzonspor
Currently in 7th position, 7 points off leaders Galatasaray, after 15 games in the season, Trabzonspor have work to do in the Turkish SuperLiga to stay in the title race. With the January transfer window almost here, the club should look to strengthen their squad provided there are good players available.
Arda Turan, the country's national team captain is on the verge of a move and a move back to the Turkish SuperLiga is a possibility. Trabzonspor is one of the clubs in Turkey looking to sign the Barcelona player, who will be a fantastic attacking acquisition for the club.
With Turan in the ranks, the club would be right back in contention for the league given that they aren't too far back from the leaders. Trabzonspor will be boosted massively with the inclusion of Turan to their frontline. With the experience and know-how in tight spaces, the former La Liga winner with Atletico Madrid could be lured back to Turkey with constant game time and a daunting challenge to overcome.
#4 Galatasaray
Another Turkish SuperLiga club and current league leaders, Galatasaray are also interested in capturing the wantaway Barcelona player.
Turan began his professional career playing for Galatasaray in 2005 and stayed at the club for 7 years before moving to join Atletico Madrid. The chances of him joining Galatasaray might be slightly higher than the other Turkish clubs because of his past with the club.
With consistent game-time one of his only requirements, Galatasaray have been enjoying a decent season so far and Turan could take a while to get settled at the club and cement a starting position.
The creative, attacking player can play behind the striker and off the wing and is a deadly threat to opposing defences while running at them at full tilt.
#5 Arsenal
Arsene Wenger could be looking for an experienced versatile player in the attacking department to bring some stability to the team in the long run. With Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil's contracts running out in the summer, a move for Turan would signal a replacement and long-term option should the club lose key players.
As Santi Cazorla is ruled out for a longer spell, Turan could also be deployed in a deeper position to help fill the void the Spaniard has created. As the rumours intensify, Turan's move to Arsenal has been boosted by claims from the player's agent, who said the move could be gaining speed, as Barcelona have deemed the player surplus to requirements.
With North London rivals Spurs also interested in signing the player, Wenger would need to move quickly in the window and squash bids from other clubs and come up with a concrete offer for the Turkish captain who could help the Gunners in the second half of the season.
