The summer transfer window brings about the opportunity for clubs to sign the players that would strengthen their aspirations for the upcoming season. And every summer, there is always a crop of players who attract clubs towards them like pollen draws bees.
Along with many others, Alvaro Morata is one of the hottest names in the transfer market this year. With his buy-back clause coming into activation from this year, it is almost certain that Real Madrid will exercise it to bring him back.
Whether or not they keep him remains an interesting tabloid topic as a host of possibilities has been reported thus far. And here are 5 possible destination for the Spain number 7…
Juventus
Starting with the least likely scenario, Alvaro Morata could, after all, stay with Juventus and continue his development in Italy. However, the chance of this is highly unlikely given that his buy-back price would increase next year, coupled with the fact that the Spaniard isn’t really getting the game time that he had hoped for.
However, with uncertainty being the only certainty there is, the former Real Madrid starlet could make a U-turn and stick with the Old Lady for another year.
He has settled well with the club and has scored some really important goals at Turin. He is also adored by his team-mates and has a seemingly good understanding with Paul Pogba and Pablo Dybala. If manager Massimiliano Allegri promises him more game time, then, who knows, he might as well stay with his current employers.
Manchester United
A club he is being heavily linked with, Manchester United could well be Morata’s next destination with former Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, being an admirer of his abilities. Even though Morata couldn’t find a spot in Real Madrid’s first team when the Portuguese was at the helm, it seems as though the newly-appointed Manchester United manager is a fan of the player the Spaniard has morphed into.
However, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic being linked with the Red Devils on a regular basis, it would be interesting to see whether the Juventus forward would actually take the risk of joining United and playing second fiddle to the Swede.
And, if reports are to be believed, Morata would only join the club if he is assured of a place in the starting XI.
Chelsea
Another club that are believed to be interested in signing him to provide competition for the Brazilian-born Diego Costa, Chelsea have shown intent when it comes to Alvaro Morata with recent reports claiming of a 39 million pounds bid being placed for him by the Londoners.
For one, it was Antonio Conte who sanctioned the purchase of Alvaro Morata right before leaving the Juve. Now, it seems as though he finally wants to right the wrong by trying to fulfill the promise he gave Morata while convincing him to join Juventus from Real Madrid.
If recent rumours are to be believed, Antonio Conte has apparently asked Chelsea to make a 39 million pounds bid for the Spain number 7. However, whether or not that amount of money will actually be enough to acquire his signature is an issue that remains to be seen.
Arsenal
Arsene Wenger has been a long-standing admirer of the Spaniard. In fact, Morata actually had the option to join Arsenal and play under the Frenchman, but he chose to represent the Old Lady instead.
Now, with the chances of his Juve departure becoming more and more imminent by the hour, Le Professeur could use this opportunity to do what he couldn’t two years ago.
What can be said without much doubt, though, is that out of all the clubs that are listed here, Morata is most likely to be a starter at Arsenal—and also improve the most at as a footballer.
However, whether or not Wenger would be willing to spend over 50 million Euros for somewhat of a yet unproven striker remains to be seen. Also, it is being reported that the Spaniard doesn’t prefer a move to Arsenal as he wants to play for Chelsea or United instead.
Real Madrid
And the most likely scenario would be seeing Alvaro Morata in a Real Madrid shirt next season. Real Madrid is his home, where the beginning of his road to becoming Spain’s first-choice striker took place.
He might be unboundedly grateful to Juve for forging him to bethe player that he is today, but his heart resides with the Blancos and he made that absolutely clear, claiming that his first choice is to play for Real Madrid.
With the buy-back price settled at 35 million Euros, it is the Galacticos that would have no complexity in bringing back the player that has already won a Champions League medal with them. With no real number 9 as a back-up to Benzema, it seems that Madrid are interested in signing and keeping him as Benzema’s adversary, if recent reports are to be believed.
