#4 Chinese Super League
Earlier this month, reports emerged that a Chinese Super League club had lodged a €180 million bid for Cristiano Ronaldo, with attempts to tempt the Portuguese star with an incredible €1 million-a-week salary.
Moving to China would evaporate Ronaldo’s chances of a Ballon d’Or, but the Portuguese star would certainly not earn a similar amount elsewhere. The 32-year-old has to look at life beyond retirement, and having won everything there is to win, save the World Cup, no one would begrudge him cashing out with a move to Asia.
Getting Ronaldo would represent a game-changing coup for the Chinese Super League, whose profile has already improved due to the influx of Brazilian players at their peak. The legion of Ronaldo fans would turn their eyes to China, while Ronaldo could also improve his brand recognition in Asia.
