#2 Jamaal Lascelles
Defense has been a problem for Liverpool in recent times, however they have improved in this area ever since signing Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton last January for a fee of £75 million.
Although Van Dijk has been an improvement in this area, question marks still surround Dejan Lovren, who has come in for much criticism this season.
After impressing for Newcastle United this season, Jamal Lascelles has emerged as a potential summer transfer target for Liverpool as they look to improve defensively.
Lascelles would bring leadership to the Liverpool team, he was made Newcastle captain at age 22, so Lascelles is no stranger to taking on considerable responsibility despite being of a young age.
Lascelles' calmness on the ball and reluctance to dive into challenges would stand him in good stead to play in Jurgen Klopp's system, given the high line Liverpool adopt in most of their matches.
The 24-year old is also a threat from set pieces and has 3 goals to his name in the season just passed. Lascelles style would compliment Van Dijk, with the former able to push ahead of the defensive line, making interceptions, while the latter drops deeper to wins aerial duels.
