#3 West Ham United (30 goals)
Premier League veteran manager David Moyes has done a fabulous job with West Ham United. The Scot has helped the Hammers strongly compete for a place in Europe and they were successful last season, having qualified for the UEFA Europa League.
The east London club have one of the best young prospects in the Premier League in the form of Declan Rice. The Englishman, with his defensive and technical abilities, has marshaled the midfield with utmost brilliance.
His partner Tomas Soucek is quite underrated. The Czech Republic international has done amazingly well in performing his defensive duties and at the same time contributed with a good amount of goals.
Mark Noble's experience combined with the spark of Said Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals make for a very versatile midfield for the Hammers. West Ham saw 27 goals come from midfield last season and this season, three goals have already come from the same department.
#2 Manchester United (35 goals)
Manchester United might be struggling with consistency but they have surely been among the goals. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, midfielders at United have been more involved going forward.
There are not enough words to express how brutally effective Bruno Fernandes has been for the Red Devils. With his tenacious approach, amazing vision, brilliant passing and creative abilities, the Portuguese midfielder has been a monster of a player. The former Sporting Lisbon player scored 18 goals in the Premier League last season.
Leaving Fernandes aside, Paul Pogba can also contribute in terms of goals. Pogba has started this brilliantly with already seven assists to his name in the Premier League. Solskjaer may not have a good defensive midfielder but he sure has some really great options to help in scoring goals.
Last season, the 20-time Premier League Champions saw 28 goals come from midfield. Seven out of United's 14 goals this season have come from midfield players. As such, their contribution cannot be underestimated.
#1 Manchester City (37 goals)
The hallmark of Pep Guardiola's team is the significant contribution from their midfield. We saw at Barcelona how brutally dominant and effective his midfielders were. It has been no different in the Premier League.
The Spanish manager has some world class midfielders under his regime at Manchester City. With the presence of a stunning player like Kevin De Bruyne in the side, Guardiola has to worry very little about being creative. Add supporting midfielders like Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan to the mix and the heart of the team only gets stronger.
The reason goals have come in plenty for City is because of the immense contribution made from midfield.
Last season, 32 goals came from midfield for the Premier League Champions. Guardiola's side have already seen five goals scored by midfielders this season. Undoubtedly, City's midfield will hold the key and be very instrumental in defending their title.
