#4. One-upping their rivals Atletico Madrid
Many might have forgotten by now but Sergio Aguero spent 5 good years at Real Madrid’s arch rivals Atletico. He made 175 appearances notching up 74 goals in that time frame. He then moved to Manchester City in 2011 for a fee of 38 million pounds.
There is now added incentive of enraging their rivals if they sign Sergio Aguero. Despite only spending 5 seasons at their cross-town rivals he was beloved by their fans. Given Atletico are also serious title contenders every year it would make sense to sign one of their former heroes.
Real Madrid have the financial might to pull off a move for Aguero and Atletico fans would hate the sight of him in the white of Madrid. Florentino Perez is the master of making the most controversial transfers happen.
Luis Figo was the first ever player he signed which kicked off the Galactico project. Given he pulled off something so unpredictable and unlikely getting Aguero would be very much within his set of business skills.
