5 reasons why Andreas Christensen can become the best defender in the world

Stoke City v Chelsea - Premier League
Christensen is getting better by the day

#4 Comfortable with the ball

ICC Singapore - Chelsea FC v FC Bayern
He is also very comfortable on the ball

Christensen is the perfect example of a modern defender. He is confident with the ball at his feet and loves to pass the ball out from the back rather than hoofing the ball forward aimlessly.

The youngster is very accurate with his passing and he has only lost the ball six times in all competitions this season.

He loves to play a short pass into the feet of the play-makers in the team and rarely misplaces them as he has completed 881 out of 925 short pass attempts, which calculates to 95% accuracy. This clearly shows his capability to link with the midfield and the part he plays in starting the Chelsea attacks.

England defender John Stones gets huge credit for the way he plays out from the back and is praised for the accuracy of his passing, which is only 2% better than Christensen, who is rarely credited for the way he builds play from one side of the pitch to the other.
