#2 Quality Squad Depth
Liverpool were considered title contenders in the first-half of last season before fizzling out towards December. The biggest reason for this was a lack of quality beyond the first team. However, this time around, the situation has improved.
Competition has done wonders for Simon Mignolet, who is now the first-choice goalkeeper at the club. This time around, he has to not only compete with Loris Karius but also Huddersfield's playoffs hero Danny Ward as Klopp decided to retain last season's loanee for this one.
Alberto Moreno's rebirth coupled with Robertson's arrival provides two natural left-backs while Trent Alexander-Arnold's remarkable rise gives ample cover for Nathaniel Clyne on the other wing. Further, the return of long-term absentee Joe Gomez provides depth at both centre-back and full-back positions.
The Reds currently have Jordan Henderson, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum as the senior midfielders with Marko Grujic, Ben Woodburn and Ovie Ejaria providing the youthful depth. Klopp is looking to add another midfielder to the mix before the window closes. Further, if Coutinho leaves, then Liverpool will look to bring in a world-class midfielder to bolster the ranks.
Finally, up front Firmino, Origi, Sturridge, Solanke and Ings provide ample depth while Mane, Salah and youngster Ryan Kent provide pace and width. Thus, irrespective of new arrivals, Liverpool already have a stronger squad compared to last season and this will be crucial for winning the title.
