Barcelona signed Nelson Semedo from Benfica last summer, so making a move for another right-back seemed unlikely and doesn't make sense initially.
However, Valverde has preferred Sergi Roberto over the 23-year-old. Signing the impressive Odriozola, 22, would be a wise move by the club and he would compete with Semedo for a starting position.
Aleix Vidal, who was seen as the long-term replacement for Dani Alves, looked set to depart the club last summer having failed to live up to the expectations but is expected to move on once again, prompting a move for another right-back when the window re-opens.
Manchester United have previously shown an interest in bringing the Spain international to Old Trafford, but he would be a perfect addition to the Camp Nou as Lionel Messi has allegedly suggested.
