The transfer market is in full swing at the moment as the winter transfer window opened on the 1st of January. The January transfer window provides the last opportunity for clubs to bolster their respective squads, to boost their aims in the last stretch of the 2018-19 campaign.
Last year's January transfer window saw some historic deals take place. Philippe Coutinho made a big move to Barcelona, Virgil van Dijk landed at the red half of Merseyside, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Aymeric Laporte also switched clubs in the winter transfer window of 2018.
This same has occurred in this window, transfer rumours are infectious in the football world and immense transfer speculation has already started to mount around some of the top players.
Some deals have already been agreed but there could be many more deals to come in what is left of the window.
On this very note, we take a look at some strange transfers which could take place in the January transfer window.
#4 Divock Origi to Tottenham
Due to Son Heung-min's absence due to Asia Cup and sudden unfortunate injury to Harry Kane has seen Tottenham's attacking options becoming thin and it could urge them to swoop for a forward in the January transfer window.
According to astonishing reports, Liverpool's out of favour striker Divock Origi has now become a target for the Spurs.
The Belgian striker is lacking play time this season at the Red Half of Merseyside having made just two appearances in Premier League.
With Origi in seek of playing time and with Spurs in the lookout for a striker, a deal may get completed. But chances of the deal appears to be very thin as Reds selling Origi to direct title rivals Tottenham looks doubtful.
#3 Cristhian Stuani to Barcelona
The 32-year-old Girona striker Cristhian Stuani has emerged as a target for Barcelona after an immense season with the Spanish outfit so far.
The veteran striker has made 50 appearances for the LA Liga outfit since joining back in 2017 and has found the back of the net 33 times. Previously he has played for Spanish clubs like Levante and Espanyol and thus boasts a vast experience of playing in Spain.
The forward has scored 12 goals so far this season and one of the top performers of La Liga in the 2018-19 campaign.
Girona has been looking to tie Stuani with a new contract but he has not agreed on the contract and yet and it runs until the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
With Barcelona selling Munir El Haddadi, the Catalan have very thin options for the striker role and it could urge them to make a move Stuani.
#2 Krzysztof Piatek to Real Madrid
After delivering a series of thumping performances for Italian outfit Genoa from the start of the season, Krzysztof Piatek has now become one of hottest properties in the transfer market.
The Polish striker has scored 19 goals in all competitions so far this season and is one of the top performers of Seri A this season.
Real Madrid could land the Polish attacker in January in order to add a more attacking threat to their squad.
However, the striker has previously been linked with Chelsea and Barcelona and when he was asked about his future, he insisted,
"I do feel a little like Christopher Columbus. He set out on an adventure from Genoa and the dream of any young player coming here is to use it as the starting point for a step up to a big club.
"If I continue like this, I can reach a top European team. I don’t come near him now, but I think one day I can reach the level of Robert Lewandowski.
"When you play in Serie A, it’s crucial to keep a clear head and use it for more than just scoring goals.
#1 Adam Lallana to Rangers
It is some transfer rumour! Recently Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has been touted to join Scottish outfit Rangers, which is currently managed by Reds legend Steven Gerrard.
Adam Lallana uplifted a pivotal role in Reds' top four finish in 2017 but later, a serious knee injury derailed his performances and he found himself sidelined from the Red squad.
Rangers are immensely active in the transfer market at the moment as they have already agreed sealed the signatures of Jermain Defoe and Steven Davies while the Scottish club has also agreed on pre-contract signings of Dundee’s Glen Kamara and Kilmarnock’s Jordan Jones.
It may follow the deal of 30-year-old midfielder Adam Lallana whose Liverpool career looks to have come to the wrong end. It could see him and his former teammate Steven Gerrard reuniting as the pair has previously worked for Liverpool 5 years ago.
