Mauro Icardi's rise to be one of the top strikers in world football is amazing to say the least. Having started his career at Sampdoria, he quickly established his vast talent, coming off the bench on his debut to score the winner for them. He was a pivotal part of their squad and earned his move to a big club when he moved to Inter in 2013.
This is where he underwent the transition from a good striker to a world-class one. An unfortunate injury prevented him from playing for most of his first season with the club but once he did come back, there was no stopping him.
This season, he has scored 18 goals in just 25 appearances. He also has leadership capabilities, judging by the fact that he has been Inter's captain for two seasons now and the extra responsibility has just seemed to spur him on.
The Argentinian may have his share of controversies off the field but no one can deny his ability on it. Argentina manager, Jorge Sampaoli has claimed that Madrid are watching him closely and a big-money move is certainly justified for the mercurial forward.
