Duvan Zapata’s performances have largely gone unnoticed, but the striker has been the leading light in Atalanta’s campaign in the 2018-19 Serie A season. The Colombian has shown his ability to outclass the opposition with his attacking runs and by exploiting gaps in the opposition’s defense.

The 28-year-old has been an influential figure in Atalanta’s forward line. His smart and offensive moves have also looked threatening. The striker has teamed up quite well with Roberto Piccoli in the forward line.
He has also worked well with the midfield consisting of Alejandro Gomez and Mario Pasalic. The former Sampdoria player has netted 22 goals in 34 games in the 2018-19 Serie A season with 7 assists to his name.
Although Sampdoria finished 10th in the Serie A standings in the 2017-18 season Zapata’s performance was like a silver lining for them. Team manager Gian Gasperini had stated that Zapata's intensity on the field has been a crucial factor for the improvement some of the younger players of the team have shown.
