#3 Manchester City move to top of the table with Brighton win
Manchester City were up against Brighton at home after their midweek Carabao Cup win over Oxford. City lined up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Sterling and Leroy Sane leading the attack along with Aguero. Brighton started off defensively in a 4-1-4-1 formation.
Aguero, Sane, and Sterling combined beautifully for the first goal as Sterling scored from a Sane assist in the 29th minute to give City the lead. Brighton did test Ederson early on in the match, but failed to score as the first half ended 1-0.
In the second half as well, Guardiola's team produced quality shots on goal, and got their second goal when Aguero scored from a Sterling assist in the 65th minute. Manchester City kept possession of the ball as Brighton were outclassed at the Etihad. The match ended 2-0 in favor of Manchester City.
The 3 points meant that Manchester City went on top of the table with 19 points from 7 matches, ahead of Liverpool on goal difference. Up next for Manchester City is a trip away to face German side Hoffenheim on Matchday 2 of the Champions League.
