Arsenal FC v Watford FC - Premier League
Ozil doubled the lead

Arsenal took on a strong Watford side on Matchday 7 of the Premier League after the midweek Carabao Cup fixtures as Arsenal defeated Brentford, while Watford lost to Tottenham on penalties after a 2-2 regulation time draw.

Unai Emery started his side in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Lacazette as the lone striker supported by Ozil, Ramsey, and Aubameyang. Javi Gracia's Watford started in a 4-4-2 formation, with Pereyra anchoring the midfield, and Andre Gray as well as Deeney up-front.

Throughout the first half, Arsenal had failed to create any significant chance in spite of having a lot of possession in the midfield area.

Watford played with a lot of intent in the first half, with a lot of sustained pressing to deny Ozil and Ramsey's creativity. Bernd Leno replaced the injured Petr Cech in goal at the half way mark, and he made an impact straight-away with two saves.

Emery introduced Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck in the second half to get the decisive goal. Fortunately for Emery, a cross from Iwobi saw Cathcart finding his own net and giving Arsenal a lucky lead. However, just two minutes later, Ozil doubled the lead with a strong passing play with Lacazette and Iwobi.

Watford put up a great fight throughout the match, and a draw would have been a fair result for them. Arsenal with this important win over Watford are now in fifth place with 15 points from seven games, and have not lost since going down to Chelsea on Matchday 2.

Watford are one place behind Arsenal in 6th, with 13 points from 7 games. Up next for Arsenal is a long trip away against Qarabag in the Europa League.
