Jan Vertonghen was exceptional in the 2016-17 season along with Kyle Walker in the defense. Jan Vertonghen provides tremendous solidity and is tactically quite sharp.

Known for his cohesive tackles Jan Vertonghen has always been the core of Tottenham Hotspur’s defense manning their territory with authority. The Belgian provides an added width in their defense and stability because of his reliability at the back.
In the 2017-18 Premier League season, the defender wasn’t able to repeat the performances of the 2017-18, but Vertonghen has shown in the past that he can deliver when needed.
Vertonghen will be expected to play an instrumental role in the Spurs defense in the 2018-19 Premier League season. The defender scored his first goal of the season against Newcastle United which they won with a 2-1 scoreline.
