Even with the misfiring Alvaro Morata present, Maurizio Sarri showed a distinct lack of trust in the Frenchman, preferring to field Eden Hazard as a false nine rather than start the 32-year-old former Arsenal man.
West Ham are said to be interested in rekindling their interest in Giroud, due to fears over the fitness of top striker Marko Arnautovic.
The Hammers have reportedly made enquiries over the availability of Giroud, having attempted to sign him earlier when he was departing Arsenal only to lose out to Chelsea on that occasion.
Giroud has scored one goal and made four assists for Chelsea from 19 Premier League matches this season.
